Every business is different, and business goals change over time. It makes sense that what could be a failed campaign for one business, could be a winner campaign for another.

Sounds crazy but true — to measure the effectiveness of a marketing campaign is simple: measure the amount of direct sales revenue the campaign produces.

Measure In Stages

You may have a longer sales cycle so measure a campaign’s effectiveness in stages. First, did I break even on advertising? Then as the campaign continues, what’s the conversion rate?

Measure Value

How much value did the campaign provide?  In a nutshell — you could ask, did the content in the campaign provide useful information that helped solve a business problem?

Measurable success — there is not one simple answer for this because businesses have different goals, different customers and different sales cycles.  So, based on that the first question you need to ask is — what are your goals for this campaign or marketing effort?  Once you have that buttoned down the rest can fall into place.
