Automotive Catalog Corp / Vinyl Graphics E-Commerce, SEO, Staff Training & Jobs Impact

In 2002, Automotive Catalog Corp / Vinyl Graphics tested four e-commerce and SEO providers with the same budget. The DOYJO-built site produced more than $20,000 in its first month, became the clear winner, and later led to staff training so the internal team could manage the system. In 2008, when the downturn put jobs at risk, renewed site and search work helped turn possible layoffs into new hires.

“When finally making the decision to have an e-commerce website and SEO done for my business back in 2002, I talked to many different companies that provided optimized e-commerce websites. I was overwhelmed with all of the choices because they all sounded so knowledgeable and selected four of these providers, of which, I'm very glad that Brian Bateman was one. I provided these four different providers with a budget of $5,000 and asked them each, completely independent of one another, to build an SEO optimized e-commerce site and get the rankings. Each built what I thought were very nice websites, but at the end of the first year online, two had failed to make any sales at all and another had only made one sale for under $200. The site that Brian built for me was producing over $20,000 per month in sales and is always at the top of the search engines for "Vinyl Graphics" and thousands of specific search phrases. Obviously, Brian and his company became our ongoing e-commerce, SEO and Internet marketing company. After 10 years of unbeatable SEO, I asked Brian to train my team to completely manage our website, do the SEO and train us on other Internet marketing strategies. Even though Brian knew that this would reduce the amount of consulting hours we would purchase from him in the long run, he enthusiastically took on the task, trained our staff completely and even provided inside knowledge and tools to make sure that we were effective and efficient in our online marketing. I fully believe that if you need to hire an e-commerce, SEO or Internet marketing consultant to provide services or training, you cannot do any better than hiring Brian. If you want to succeed at earning a profit online, there is no one better.”

Brian is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of web design and SEO. I have had nothing but great results and constant compliments on our web site. Brian has always been there to answer calls (nights and weekends with no excuses) and implement new ideas. Considering a new web site or enhancing your existing site, this is the guy to call.”

E-commerce that affects the business

When the store works, the impact can reach far beyond the website.

Automotive Catalog Corp / Vinyl Graphics is one of the clearest examples. In 2002, Dale compared four providers with the same budget. The DOYJO-built e-commerce site produced more than $20,000 in its first month while competing sites produced little or nothing, and then Brian trained the client’s internal team to manage and operate the site.

In 2008, after the housing bubble burst, the same client called because two jobs were at risk if new orders did not come in. After about 30 days of focused site and search work, the conversation changed to needing three new people to keep up with new orders.

The better e-commerce question is not just whether the cart works. It is whether the system helps customers buy, helps staff manage orders, helps leadership stay in control, and helps the business keep growing when conditions get difficult.

E-commerce with business impact

Online sales can protect more than revenue.

For Automotive Catalog Corp / Vinyl Graphics, an SEO-focused e-commerce site did more than look professional. In 2002, it beat three competing providers on results, produced more than $20,000 in first-month online sales, and gave Dale enough confidence to have Brian train the internal staff to manage the site.

Then, during the 2008 downturn, focused site and search work changed the conversation from possible layoffs to needing three new people to keep up with new orders. That is the kind of e-commerce outcome DOYJO cares about.

E-commerce design directions

Thousands of designs to start from.

Thousands of e-commerce designs to start from. These are a few examples from thousands of e-commerce design directions organized by store type, catalog complexity, product model, and buyer path. DOYJO uses the visual direction as a starting point, then builds the product data, cart, checkout, tax, shipping, wholesale, CRM, and integration logic around the real business.

Request an e-commerce review

A good e-commerce site is a business system. The store has to help customers buy, but it also has to support product data, catalog organization, taxes, shipping, payments, customer emails, inventory, fulfillment, reporting, integrations, and the staff who keep it running.

When the system is almost right, customers hesitate, staff do extra work, reports become unreliable, and growth creates more friction instead of more profit.

DOYJO reviews the store from the customer's side and the operator's side: what makes buying easier, what makes management cleaner, what data must stay under business control, and what custom WordPress or WooCommerce functionality can reduce manual work.

What to look for

The right time to review is when friction starts costing attention, trust, or opportunity.

  • Customers can buy, but the path could be smoother, clearer, and more convincing.
  • Staff, dealers, distributors, or fulfillment teams are doing work the system should handle.
  • The catalog, checkout, taxes, shipping, discounts, and integrations need to support growth.
  • The business needs sales and systems that help protect jobs, cash flow, and continuity — not just a prettier cart.

Review question

Where are customers, staff, or distributors losing time because the store or ordering process is too manual?

What DOYJO can review and improve

E-commerce planning and catalog strategy
WooCommerce, custom plugin, or custom e-commerce development
Payment, checkout, tax, and shipping setup
Product categories, search, filters, and data structure
SEO-minded product and category architecture
Analytics, conversion tracking, and reporting setup
Email deliverability, transactional email review, and launch testing
Integration planning for inventory, fulfillment, accounting, CRM, email, or business systems
Custom WooCommerce plugins or private workflow tools when standard plugins do not fit
Dealer, distributor, wholesale, tax-exemption, account, or CRM workflow support
Custom WooCommerce plugin development
Dealer, distributor, wholesale, or private ordering workflows

Why DOYJO

DOYJO treats e-commerce as operations, not just design. Product data, checkout, SEO, accounting, dealer rules, tax workflows, customer communication, and custom WooCommerce functionality should be understandable, documented, and controlled by the business.
